boxing off lower control arm brackets

Default boxing off lower control arm brackets

i am going to box off my bottom control arm brackets and was woundering if anyone had any pictures of the process to give me some ideas...appreciated

i put braces on mine and have not looked back since! i have thought about putting a little skid to connect the 2 sides tho, just have not gotten around to it yet

yea i wana do than and close them up to make a lil stronger but i likewhat you did it came out nice

thanks. i have run it like this for 3 years now with no problem there is 4 mounts per side. 2 inner 2 outer and each has an upper and lower as you can see. and doing it this way is stronger than just the single skid piece connecting them. but the single skid piece protects your lower control arms from rock rash

I like. i might have to make me some. alot of people forget when you beef your control arms the mounting brackets become the weak link

nice, but don't forget the upper control arm mount on the passenger side if it's not the disco axle. it's like a wet noodle.

96 xj did all you do was get some triangle gussets and weld them in?

i used card stock to make templates and then i plasma cut then out and welded them in.

eh plasma cutter was on, it was quick clean cuts and worked out perfect =] and the plate is just 1/8" but you figure it makes the whole system act as a single unit giving it major strength. i broke my axle in payson(had to get towed back) and then went back after i fixed them and tested them out again and they worked wonderful. i run the rocks and boulders here and have not had them flinch. you can see some rock rash in the pictures.(broke a rear shock mount clean off on a rock once)


i agree the weldable ones you found are good as well!
