I think someone already mentioned this but the fab section should be broke up into sub categories, perhaps 3 or 4

Metal working- construction of bumpers, suspensions parts, racks ect

General fab- anything made of wood or plastic or PVC or any other non metal material, snorkels and hood vents, SUPER SWEET PVC RACKS!

Fab Discussion and theory, a place to talk techniques and ask questions!

This would solve the problem and creat a new one, people wouldn't have anything to complain about for a little while. My point is most people simply don't care, for every person on here that try's to follow the rules there are going to be 3 that don't! The Internet is full of douchebags and all the complaining and *****ing in the world won't stop it! If you want to belong to a public forum that's free and open to all you must accept this!

I think the sub categories would be the best thing with regards to this problem.

I do not agree.

There's already enough forums. People just need to think before they post it...

I see what you mean lowrange, but I don't think I'd be reaching when I say that when people feel the need to ask a welding question that the Fabrication would be their first impulse.

and I do agree with that. I feel like if you have a question ABOUT fabrication then it belongs here but that comes down my definition of 'Fabrication'.

My opinion: If you haven't had welding slag roll down your pants leg and catch your pants on fire then you haven't fabricated anything... but that's just my definition of the word.

When I come in to this forum I want to see someone building a crossmember or a rear 4 link, a cage, a bumper, a chop... dovetail... something other than a headliner or a snorkle.

I see your point but perhaps were taking the word FABRICATION to literally, if your building something from scratch for your jeep I believe it belongs here. Just my opinion.

It kinda bugs me that people are complaining about things they have made a choice to read, let me repeat that, you are making a choice to read these things. Nobody is forcing your hand, if you see a thread labeled "PVC snorkel" and you don't think it belongs in the fab section just simply don't click on it!

Gah, I was about to say "fair enough"...

I don't think they should be there because I get tired of swimming thru the crap to get to the good stuff, tho it's extremely few and far between. There should be a 'crap' forum. The only up-side there is to it is saving all the hilarious pictures of goofy stuff and showing everyone.

Oh thats half the reason I don't have a problem with any of this! I have laughed and cringed in the same thread looking at some of the janky crap people build! On this and other forums I've seen pictures of welds do bad if you worked for me I'd fire you, and what's even worse is other telling them how nice it looks and offering advise! Comical and scary!

The DIY movement along with technology making tools affordable to everyone has everyone building things, and to be honest most people I know shouldn't be anywhere near a welder, there is A LOT more to it than just making a pretty bead, all of the fine fabricaters/fitters/welders I know have two very important things in common. A ton of experience and an unusually high level of attention to detail! These things can't be learned on a forum or in a 2 week welding class!
