Lightbulb 99 cherokee rear shock issues

Hi all, hope i'm posting this in correct area. I'm brand new to this forum. Anyways bought a 99 cherokee classic for my son and we are starting to put lify in tomorrow am. Its off the ground and wheels off so I look under noticing it has fairly new rear shocks. First thought is oh great no top bolt issues right. Yeah exactly what I thought! Well , looked underneath and to my not so thrilled shock the shocks have been welded to the bolt up area. Yes welded! Question for any of you jeep great ones, do you have any idea what I can do as its a tight area and not sure I can even get a die grinder up there without screwin somethin up. Im no stranger to fab n welding so all ideas will help as im starting early tomorrow. Cheers and thanx in advance

To start off, this is the wrong area for this post. It says so right in the READ BEFORE POSTING sticky.

To sollve your problem, you are probably going to have to cut into the floor pans in the cargo area and cut those out.

You will also have to fab something up to hold the shocks there, but if you fab something up, test it before it goes on the road. That would suck.

cut the bar pin. then use the rear swaybar mounts as a bar pin eleminator weld them where the shock used to bolt up.

I think that will work great. My other issue is that the factory shocks are welded in at top and it was a real hack weld job. I have to get the old pins that are welded in outta there and not much room to work with a grinder in there. Any ideas.

just cut the top of the shck with a die grinder and a 3" cut off wheel after the shock is out of the way you should be able to get to the welds with he cut off just have to replace the shocks

and id get detours relocators as thats a problem area anyway
