are you building the entire thing out of 1/4? thats gonna be a heavy sob if you are. really, just the mounts and winch plate need to be 1/4, but i guess you use what you got?

Finally got the last of the "basic" welding done to my bumper. Gotta grind and shape the corners next, then ready for primer. Now to dig my winch out of storage, then fab and weld the winch plate on. After that the prerunner bar needs fabbed and welded, then final painting

There is one fix that needs to be done when we cut 4 of the pieces, you'll see what I mean in Dec...

I got my superwinch and am making my entire bumber out of 1/4 inch. When you look at it at the betal shop, it still looks flimsy, but I am now seeing that welding it makes it pretty strong. I'm using half an inch for the winch mounting plate.
Your bumper looks good, and nice welds... lol. mine look like crap. but good luck, and i would go with the superwinch out of the two.
Keep up posted.

Couldn't spend too much time working on it today, due to it being my anniversary. Did manage to get half of it ground down, shaped and primered

1/4" was overkill for my whole bumper, but the steel was free so I used it

I have quite a few years of welding behind me, but still can't quite get the flux core w/ no gas to do what I want LOL!!! Give me some 7018 or shielding gas and watch out...
