the ax-10 RTR is a good cralwer. you need to change the motor out of the box, but other then that it is a good base to start with. I just picked up a ATR on ebay with all the upgrades for 200. If it was me I would look for one built you will get a better deal on one.

Is the Venom Creeper any good? I can get the "Kit" for around $120 and build it right the first time as opposed to buying the AX10 for $230 and having to replace lots of parts.

Or is the AX10 just a better RC?

After doing some research it appears the SCX10 would be best for me. I'm looking for a trail truck that will crawl just as well as mud. Now to break it to the wife

Mine started life as a Raminator. Now it has about $2000 bucks in upgrades right down to Titanium Nitride gears and an aluminum clutch. Every time I run it something breaks and it costs me at least $100 bucks to fix it. So ... it sits in the garage.

i sold an scx10 this past week for 240$ cdn funds.
i sold it RTR, with a lipo. it had tamiya axles(stronger than axial) and was very fun to drive. sad to see it go, but my ax tuber was much more fun

having owned two ax10s and no creepers...id still say the ax is a better choice.
venom just does not have the aftermarket support. the tranny is heaps too big, and from what ive heard, most kits are missing parts. the manual locking, or optional remote locking axles is the absolute best part of the truck and i wish axial would take a note here.
the bent links are oem on the creeper, and optioned out for 30 bucks for the ax.
that being said, every story ive encountered had nothing but fabulous reviews with venoms customer service.

you're not saving in the long run buying a creeper, as awesome as they look on youtube....
i will run the hell out of venoms lipos though, they are rockets

is that the os 28zx or 21 rg?
im betting the 28 as rg is probably bump only...
this would also explain the titanium nitride gears...
that motor has too much power, blew the diffs clean out of 8 scale truggies. that is no small feat.
if that pipe holds any sort of tune, that is very close to 3.5 horsepower on 30% nitro....
awesome truck dude! how much you want?

i forgot about the VG's... not quite on par with the zx, but i'd still venture to say over the 3 horse mark!...
very impressive for a motor with only 3 moving parts eh?
