temp gauge problem. HELP!
ok this is no where near a jeep but I have a problem. My cousin has a Chevy Venture mini van. Problem is after the engine warms up the temp gauge will fluctuate within the normal range but when stopped at a light will read almost hot and as soon as he starts to drive the needle goes back down to cold. The engine is not getting hot... Whats goin on here? anything will help thanks in advance

How did you verify the engine is not getting hot?
Sounds like a lack of airflow or coolant to me, this happens repeatedly? Does it have an auxillery fan thats not going on?
Have you checked the coolant level?

Collapsing/failing coolant hose or partially stuck closed thermostat perhaps. Just enough restriction to allow the temp to creep sitting at light?
You did a visual at front of rad for plastic etc?
Twin electrical fans? That would eliminate fan clutch.

Took the liberty of a google search for ya, seems to be quite a bit of info out there. Maybe you'll see a recurring cause for this that neither of us are aware of.
Could be something totally specific to the engine/ colling system in this vehicle....
