Default new dd.

I need new wheels. My Jeep is no longer gonna be a road warrior soon. Any tips/hints on a good reliable car or truck. I'm thinking 4 cylinder 5-6 speed stick. Would like it to at least have a bit of get up an go but get at least 25-30 mpg. Feasible? So far I've looked at a 2000 eclipse 2.4l 5 speed with 140k on it. Way overpriced. I'm thinking Honda civic, 2000-05, eclipse 2000-05, Jetta 01-06, ranger 2wd 2000-04, I'd love a Audi a4 or Jetta 1.8t but those are a little outta my price range. $3k-4k.

I've considered that. But I'm planning on going back to school in the fall. 1,000 miles away. So I need a fuel efficient (not a xj) vehicle for trips to home an back to school.
