For anyone intrested, I have a line on the above mentioned truck. The guy wants $2500 OBO. Its a 2 door "unibody" and by unibody I mean the cab and bed are all one body, like the El Caminos. Its a 4X4, 4 speed with a factory installed Nissan DIESEL motor. Im gonna stop tomorrow and try to get pics and contact info. The body is in OK shape, a modest amount of body rust along the rockers, lower doors and fenders. The wheel wells around the bed floor are rusted too. Its located in South west Georgia inbetween the towns of Hahira and Barney on HWY 122. Its a faded dark blue with I think black on the lower part of the sides. Ill post up pics tomorrow and contact info.

Is it a truck with a bed? If so it sounds like its probably the Scout Terra. Basically its a Scout II stretched a few inches with a bulk head behind the front seats and a removable half cab top. Its not a unibody, it has a full frame under it. I dont think the Nissan diesel was much to brag about but hey its a diesel. The terra pick up was offered from 76-80, the 80 being the rare one with square headlamps, nissan turbo diesel (turbo only available for 80 model) and a dana 300 (not the same as jeep 300's) Oh and I guess for some people the dana 44 front and rears can be desirable especially to the CJ jeep crowd.

My 258 came out of a IH Scout II, I put an 87 4.0 head on it and ran it for two years before it gave out. Now its getting bored and stroked.

"Its a 2 door "unibody" and by unibody I mean the cab and bed are all one body, like the El Caminos. " Yes it is a body on frame, the term unibody was the best word I could use to describe the fact that it was not a seperate cab and bed. I dont know anything about IHCs so I dont know if they made a conventional pick up or not. But at anyrate, either he decided to keep it or it was sold as its not out infront of his house anymore. Kinda suprized there was no real intrest in this here. Oh well.

FYI, they made regular trucks and the unibody both The unibody was called a Terra, it was basically modified off of a Scout II, much like the CJ 8 scrambler was made from the CJ 7.

IH trucks are somewhat rare, and to a few people they are desireable. But like I mentioned earlier there is not much to a scout that would have good benefits to a Jeep, unless a CJ owner wanted to upgrade to dana 44's. Scouts like most other things from the era are notoriously rusty and expensive to fix just moreso than most.

My old Scout II was identical to my CJ5 it had the same 258, T18, D20, and 30 front AMC20 rear.
