Default Jeep Compass

I Have a 2007 jeep compass, i am driving the car and all of the sudden in the dash board the light of 4WD! came on the dashboard. What does this means and how can i fix it without taking to the dealer is to expensive need help thank you

I dont own one but maybe it's in 4wd. This is a cherokee and grand cherokee forum though. Dont know how many people on here own a compass.

My Jeep has a compass.... oh wait.... kidding,kidding.



I think the compass and patriot have automatic AWD. Did this happen on a slick road?

Don't those have a pretty drawn out powertrain warranty? It might still be covered. In all honesty though, I don't know anything about those...

They do. I would ask the dealer about it first or even a forum dedicated to newer Jeeps. All of us here are stuck in the past with the XJ and ZJ

There should be a little switch between the seats you have to pull up on it to lock into 4wd just pull it up one more time and it should come out of 4wd just my 2cents

From an '09 Patriot manual but should still apply.

31. 4WD! Warning Light
This light monitors the 4-Wheel Drive (4WD)
system. The light will come on, for a bulb
check, when the ignition key is turned to the
ON position and may stay on for as long as
three seconds.
When lit solid:
There is an 4WD system fault. 4WD
performance will be at a reduced level. Service the 4WD
system soon.

When blinking:
The 4WD system is temporarily disabled
due to overload condition.
