I think 71 was still the FE motors 390 OR the 6ers
There are some great truck forums out there but this one is the best
www.fordtruk.com (slick60s)
Its 61-66 BUT these guys know everything.
They are cheap bastards like me and can direct you to all the catalog suppliers and engine swap mount dealers out there
Start with www.DennisCarpenter.com and www.Macsantiqueautoparts.com
AutoKrafters and Dearbornclassics are two other suppliers I use for my Torinos
There is one more dealer but I cannot recall the name of them. The slick60s guys will know

We got the body completely off, got the frame up in the air, grinding all of the rust off, which surprisingly isnt that much, Still no word on whether the 302 windsor is good or not.

We have a '68 F100. 1971 F100 trucks could have 6 cyl, 302, and FE engines. Those are great trucks, but rust is an ever present problem. We are building ours with a modular drivetrain and a revised suspension setup.

You could get anything from a 300, 6 cylinder to a 460 in the F Series truck in 71.
Parts are easy to get, Ford 302/351W/351C/351M engine stands that bolt to the frame, they also used the same motor mounts.
Ford used a few different power steering pumps, I prefer the on with a sliding bracket
that uses 3 nuts on top to tighten, and pull bolt for tensioning belt.
Ignition would have been a points type distributor, but I would use a DuraSpark electronic, its easy to setup.
Transmissions: Three Options factory, C6 automatic was used behind any of the engines, a 3 speed standard with column shift, or a Granny 4 speed.
You want parts/mounts from a 67-79 model years, the frames was all the same as in Twin-I beam.
Good luck.
