Default Not Really

To convert a Dodge 2x4 to 4x4. You would need the drive train of course. But then. You would also need the 4x4 engine cross member, and motor mounts. Those are usually rivited into the frame. You can bolt them in with grade 8 bolts. You will have to modifi the floor pan of the 2x4 cab to clear the transfer case. Ok thats just on a gasser. For a Cummings truck You will have to have a Dana 60 Front Axle (at Least), a 205 transfer case. Have Your transmission modified to 4x4 configuration, or find one in a junk yard. The ft spring packs on a Cummins 4x4 are huge compared to a regular 4x4 of the same year, You will need those as well. You can buy those new (which I would do).
Trust Me it is easier to just buy a 4x4 cummins truck, unless You have a complete doner truck.

Just keep looking, maybe spread out your area to look, its always better to find what you want. The 1st gens are cool trucks but truthfully a 2nd gen 12v would be better in the long run and should be easier to find. 2nd gens are all intercooled and have a p7100 injector pump, and beefier drivetrains, trannys (kinda) and frames. The 2nd gen injector pump is a lot better than the 1st VE for longevity and mods.

If you are stuck with wanting a 1st gen, it may be considered a benefit to look for a 1991.5 to 1993, these will have a intercooler. Good luck
