Hi all
2020 Jeep Cherokee trailhawk elite 3.2 engine
when it’s -17 below c,the car will start with the remote then stop
go Out and start manually,will start and all malfunction lights come on and engine dies,restart and most lights go off,engine light will go off after a few start stop cycles,dealer cant figure out why
anybody else having this problem?

Was diagnosed with bad start stop relay

 

My brand new Cherokee Trailhawk elite with only 1200kms on it is doing the same thing on starting up (in cold temperatures we currently have in N. Canada.....) engine light stays on as do several other safety feature lights...traction control, front end collision etc and others.....been to the dealer 2x and a code was recovered the second time.......now wants me to stop start the vehicle several times to see if the light goes out ..if not back to the dealer for a major check over of what the code told them.....never had this issue with a brand new vehicle ever before....:-(

 

Get them to replace the start,stop, relay,there is a Tsb from Chrysler on this
phone Ashton at face canada about this,he should know,I’ve been talking to him for about 3 weeks now and its finally fixed,they had a whole ****load of bad relays,replaced about 6 of mine,
jeep starts great now,

will contact Chrysler first thing Monday, and try to get this sorted. Service manager said yesterday I was the 3rd person into the dealership yesterday

all with Cherokee starting issues...why they don't know about the TSB is beyond me..

-35 this morning,Jeep started no problem

 

you are lucky....mine would run for 10 secs and then shut off with warning lights flashing, and engine light on. tried 2 or 3 times to get er going and finally she started....but lights still on, ie engine lights and safety lights flashing.....drove for 2 miles then pulled over, shut it off and waited 2 mins.....then restarted.........everything was functioning perfectly. Was fine for the rest of the day....
Obviously it does not like cold starts. Probably work fine come May!!!! Anyway, thanks for your advice and I'll let you know what MY dealer discovers on Tuesday...Monday is a holiday here...family day!!!

Looks like the problem is resolved. Jeep has started well the past 2 days...Many people in town were complaining that their vehicles and Snowmobiles were having starting and running issues....Problem was ESSO in town....their Premium fuel was contaminated with water....just what you don't need in this cold weather..........anyway, a complete refill of the gas tank with regular fuel and gas line antifreeze seems to have sorted the problem out ok....phew.......No more Esso Premium for my Jeep in this town.........;-(

 

2021 Jeep Trailhawk Elite - I'm having the same problem, the first really cold day and it wouldn't start at all. Had it towed to the dealership and they replaced the relay (did not fix) and the relay board. Got out of the shop Tuesday, Thursday was a really cold day and same issues but at least it started today. I am wondering why the new Jeeps are not winter friendly. I had a 2016 Trailhawk that gave me zero issues ever.

 

Try using some gas line anti freeze, then refill your tank at another station....my problem as stated, was water in the gas at an Esso station. They subsequently shut the station down and pumped out all the tanks and refilled with fresh gas....
Jeep has been running fine since, almost a year now with no other issues...

 

Same problem here with a 21 Cherokee 80th anniversary edition. It will start and run, but basically says that none of the electronic systems are working. After it warms up I can restart it and all of the warnings go away. We have an appointment to get it serviced in the 5th so hopefully they can figure it out then. I'll tell them to check that start stop relay.

 

Have had no further issues with my 2021 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Elite since I posted the reply above. We have had some extremely cold days here lately this winter, down around the minus 20's and 30's and the jeep has always started....never used the block heater, just use synthetic oil.....
