Default chrysler tranny build

Figured I would post this here. It is a 47re from a 97 dodge diesel. I have been taking pictures along the way. Figured some people would like to see the inside of one of these "mystery boxes" FYI this unit is identical in almost everyway to a 42/44/46re in a jeep. just bigger.
I took teardown pics on my real camera but my desktop is having problems and my laptop has no card reader so I snapped some with my phone already disassembled.
Once I pulled the pan I saw immediately there was going to be, what I thought, a major issue. The pan had some pretty good size pieces of metal in i, not like chips, but rather large chunks of something.

once I got the valve body out, it became very clear. The anchor for the 2nd gear band had broken, and the band was sitting sideways in the tranny.

so once I got that apart and checked out the drum everything looked ok. somehow this thing actually shifted second gear. But it would explain why it wouldnt shift under heavy throttle.
so once everything else was torn down it looks pretty good. definitely driven very easy. Third gear clutches are starting to burn on the outer clutches. The only other thing I found was the rear band is beat up.
so a good overhaul kit with borg warner clutches and a good billet cover low stall converter, and my own valve body work and custom mods. more pics to come
