I have not been up on this thread. Im keeping the olds. Got rid of all the check engine lights. New tires, Front abs sensor/wheel bearing. Got it inspected today and gonna run her for a while.
(And okay the rims are a little ricer action but i like em, closest to all black at the time and price. )
Deal is done. The honda is going up for sale tmw. It is a great car and if I could keep it or park it somewhere I would, but I cant have it all. Both cars are what they are and If the olds craps out on me ... well oh well shoulda stuck with old faithful.
Thanks guys!
Oh and Ill post up some pictures of the honda. I totally forgot, when you see you may all go ehhhhhh Oldsmobile all the way lol. I felt like a poor man in that car buts its a Honda.

Keep the Olds,3800 series II is a great engine. Get the aluminum gaskets for the 04-up,and you'll never have to worry about it again. Flush out the "Death-Cool" and you'll be fine. Co-worker has a 98 Gran Prix that was severely neglected the 2yrs his oldest daughter owned it. Overheated, run low on coolant and oil alot. He took it back,I replaced intake gaskets and coolant elbow, and he drives it everyday with 275k.

So for a little closure the Honda is sold, got $1300 for considering I paid $400 lol. The Oldsmobile has a crack in the radiator and thats why its been low and has the death cool issue. Supposedly when too much oxygen mixes with dex-cool is causes it turn to muck. I think the radiator has been slightly cracked for a while but just progressively got worse because the low coolant light would come on. You add some coolant and a few weeks later low again.
Ill use the profits from the Honda to buy the radiator, only $137 and Im Happy.
I drove 100 miles in the Honda last week and I realized how much the car really sucked. No power and like you had to stop on it to get it to downshift so it would move. When the rpms were up she would go though. Seats made my back hurt and it rele sucked. Ill drive the olds out til something really brakes on it (like motor or tranny) then just get something newer. And I always have the Super Jeep and my Rx7 is finally finished.
Thanks for the input guys.

keep the olds... sell the honda. Yes that gen 3.8L has the intake gasket issue... but it will run longer and stronger the the honda will. Plus it's a bigger and better car.

My aunt has a '95 Honda Accord wagon. When it shifts, it feels like it's trying to throw you through the windshield. It's got over 200,000 miles on the original transmission, though.
I'm glad you kept the Olds. There's a reason old people bought them, they're comfy!

Yeah the olds is sweet. However I started the radiator on Saturday, Worked on it Sunday too and the old radiator still isnt out. I have never had so much difficulty. At first I thought the radiator had to go out the bottom but no.
The tranny coolant lines, Rad hoses, Intake air box, Battery and battery tray, both PITA electric fans and there little heat shields, Upper motor mounts, Wire loom, all have to be removed to get this radiator out. Such a pain in the *** and now its so cold. It may not sound like much but im tellin ya. The Wireloom is so thick and it blocks the radiator from coming out. Once this is done the car will be mint though. I cant finish it until next weekend, its finals week and good thing i got the jeep
To get the radiator out now all I have to do is support the motor some way and remove the other upper motor mount and I can slide it out. However putting a Jack under the motor doesnt help, it wants to fall back (toward firewall). Idk how far it will fall back and I dont want it mess anything up. I can move the motor by hand (a.k.a Musclef*ck) so it doesnt move while someone pulls the radiator out.
All in all its not fun and never knew a radiator could be such a pain. Ive done all the work on my Jeep and my cars. This car is always a pain to work on. Everything is so crammed in there.

That's Gm for ya. I remember when my fathers old 1995 Pontiac Trans Port 3800 V6 had a dead battery. Oh god was that hell. I had to remove the windshield washe fluid bottle and the stinkin bolt was stripped. Trying to get it out in such a small area.. Ahh it kills you lol but good job keeping the Olds. May have a few problems but once you realize you're done and you fixed it you'll feel real proud of yourself
