ok so working on my friends ford explorer today. getting the "click click click" from the starter.battery isnt dead (windows, lights work) replaced the starter solenoid and then the starter. wasnt either. any suggestions?
Lights and windows will NOT load the battery like the draw of a starter will. Have it load tested!

^ yep, load test the battery. You can somewhat verify this by jump starting with a good donor vehicle and cables. Also check the batt terminals and cables real good. Excessive corrosion, loose connections can do this too. Engine locked up? I hope not.

Better yet, tell him the explorer exploded and is now toast, talk him out of it and you will have an 8.8 to swap over to your jeep, then scrap the rest for $$$ bonus if it has a 5.0L
