trimming fenders
so i thought that i would just post a write-up about how i trimmed my fenders.
Tools:
jigsaw
24tpi blades (took 5)
blue painters tape
sand paper
bedliner (Duplicolor spray)
assorted hand tools (for flare removal)
bottle of 90% alcohol
clean rags
fiberglass and hardener
rubber mallot
regular hammer
1. i removed all the stock fender flares and bracketry.
2. i cleaned the surface up with a rag and some alcohol and taped everything using the mark the flares left from being
installed
3. i trimmed the front 1st cutting where the flare mounting lip meets the fender
4. i then moved to the back using the cut and fold method (i cut a little to high up but i fixed everything afterwards)
5. i then used fiberglass to "fix" my rear where i cut to high. i used the fiberglass to create a seal where the outer and
inner fender were seperated (sorry no pics of fiberglass work in progress)
6. i sanded all rough edges and prepped for bedliner application. Sprayed my bedliner on using 3 coats with 20 minutes inbetween coats. then just removed the tape carefully
here is the finshed product on the rear
and another of the rear
and here is the front
this took me ~3 days working for 3 to 4 hours a day. not a hard project just time consuming but serves an excellent purpose. i
hope this will help anyone who feels they need to trim their fenders.
