I'm in Australia and own a 96 grand cherokee. Last May while out driving it just died like someone turned the key off and kicked into neutral. Changed the crank sensor and it will start but wont run. So far have changed/checked the timing chain, TPS, IAC, MAP, vacuum lines, fuses, immobilizer, both O2 sensors and battery. Reset computer numerous times. It will start and idles rough if any amount of gas is applied it runs worse when let back to idle it dies. Any clues

Check the wiring at the CPS. My buddy had similar problem and it turned out the wiring at the harness where it plugs into the CPS was loose.

Have you checked the fuel pressure?

Is it locked in park? can you change gears?? You have to "teach" it the gears again by going through the gears one by one and going back to park. Let it idle (keep pushing gas ped) for a few minutes... turn it off.. then try to start it again. something is probably still wrong but at least you can troubleshoot a little more by driving it around.
I just had a simmilar problem w/a parasitic draw. found out it was the rear wiper motor & unplugged it. Started fine but but would die while driving. since the battery was drained I had to teach the car the gears everytime it died to drive it anywhere... got the battery charged & I was good after that.

Yep, the fuel pressure and the volume checked out

The main trouble is that it wont run well enough to drive anywhere. The gears are fine
