Default ZJ radiator question

I tried doing a search an couldn't find an answer so maybe someone can help me...My son's ZJ needed a new radiator I ordered it but the problem i'm having is trany cooler lines. When I was taking the old radiator out I couldn't figure out how to get one of the tanny cooler lines off the radiator so I crawled under the jeep and undid the fared fitting and took the radiator out with the line still attatched. Now I'm going to put the new rad back in and it seems so much easier to just run a hose from the fitting on the new rad to the trany line underneath. For the life of me I can't understand how to get the fitted hose off the old rad. Can I run the new line using a hose and just clamp it to the fitting on the new rad and to the metal line inderneath that goes to the tranny ? Are the tranny cooling lines under pressure ?

If it helps there is no tranny cooler and he doesn't ever go wheeling. The jeep is not lifted either-it's a stock 4.0 6 cylinder. I'm planning on installing this tomorrow so I'd appreciate the help guy

Thanks

Sab

Ive never physically taken my radiator out, but i could assume there is a quick disconnect tool you could buy for it. We sell a whole pack of quick disconnect tools at Harbour Freight.

there is a special tool, most auto parts houses carry it.
Yes the lines are under pressure, and it has a trans cooler, it's inside the radiator

Guys Thanks-you know exactly what I'm talking about then .... It seems almost like it is a "quick" disconnect like an air hose or something. Harbor frieght has them ? I have one by me I'll go tomorrow AM.

Thanks a heap !!

Yes sir....we sell them at my store. Theres two different packs that i know of. It comes with Fuel and A/C quick disconnect tools and then i think there is a case full of different ones. Either way you'll have them all for the future. Good Luck!
