Wanna put some limiting straps on my sons ZJ ,just curious how much down travel i should allow the axels to drop?

 

You want them to drop as much as possible meaning let the coil become unseated. Not to the point it pops out but as much as possible. To get an exact # you need to list how much lift you have what kind of lift. I say just flex it out and find out.

 

Typically about 1" less than you have shock extension if your shocks are the limiting factor now.

 

the shocks are to long ,cant seem to get it flexed out to the point of the spacer and spring to fall out for a good measure

 

Then i would suspect the tracbar or steering.. maybe brakelines to be limiting flex. I dont think the lower links would be bottoming on the coil buckets being a LA setup?

I'm confused why your asking about limiting straps if your shocks arent your limiting factor and the coils are still seated. Find out what IS your limiter and do what you need to in order to use that flex you seem to have in reserve.
