XJ to ZJ tranny

XJ to ZJ tranny
My 97 ZJ needs a motor, so I'm going to put my 94 XJ motor in it. To make things easier, I was going to just put the XJ tranny in it too. My question is, will the tranny plug right in to the ZJ?

Also I need to make sure the selec-trac transfer case from the ZJ will bolt up to the AW4 tranny from the XJ. Both are 4WD by the way.

Transmission? Not so much. Your 1997ZJ would have originally had the 42RE - and the control electronics for that are different than those for the AW4 out of the XJ. However, I do believe that the transfer case mounting is the same, in both cases.
But, you'd be better off finding or overhauling a 42RE, instead of trying to adapt the AW4 in (I can't give advice on that swap - I don't have any.)
