My 4.0 in my 99 GC took a dump, I found a replacement that was suppose to cone from a 00+ XJ. The replacement motor is also distributorless, the garage called me Saturday and saidnone of my engine accessories or my motor mounts would bolt to the XJ motor. Are the 4.0 blocks different from jeep to jeep on the distributorless motors, or did maybe the motor come from a newer wrangler? I'm in a bad jam someone please help I have $1200 invested in this engine and need to get my wife's GC on the road ASAP

If this motor won't work what model years will interchange with my 99 distributorless GC

 

Only WJ 4.0s work since the motor mounts are cast differently on the block than the XJs from what I have read.

 

So my replacement motor had to be from a 99-04 WJ? I believe my motor just cracked a head, water was in oil and had a lil peck to it. I could still use the guts and head with my block couldnt I?

Anyone wanna buy a distributorless XJ motor with 60k miles?
