Default wrong flywheel in my 1995 grand cherokee

I swapped in a 1997 trans and flex plate into my '95. Now it barely runs, misses bad. Is there a work around or do I need to put the 95 flexplate and torque converter back in. It seems like the holes must be different for the cps to pick up on. New but have been searching and would appreciate being pointed towards a previous thread or any input would be great. Thanks

You need to install the 95 flexplate.

Thanks. I was afraid of that. Some learning experience are harder than others.

You may want to remove the CPS before you separate the engine and tranny. It can get damaged very easily.

Thanks for the advice. I pinched my cps when I installed the trans and then had to replace the cps with the trans fully installed what a pain. So I will be careful not to damage another one. I just need time to get it done.

Now I have the original flex plate back in I have a leak at the base of the trans dip stick tube. I removed it and put a new o-ring on but it still leaks. Any suggestions?

It's possible you cracked the tube where it's flared for the seal. You can try brazing it up or just replacing it.

Default bad oring

I found that the new oring I installed was cut somehow during the installation. I greased up the next one and so far so good. I won't know until I have it warmed up and the fluid level right. Thanks
