Default WK Taillight Issues - Bad Harness??

Hi Everyone-

I came across of very interesting predicament in my 2007 Laredo:

When the headlights are off, all the taillights and turn signals work.
When the headlights are on, the left & right taillights and signals no longer work. The center light still comes on during breaking.

This is troubling to me because usually when I need my headlights is when I would want people to be able to see him stop...

Adding to the issue is that it really only happens when it either has rained or is raining, but not all time...

Any ideas, suggestions??

Get a multi-tester and check the connection at the taillight housing.
Jeep went all hi-tech in the late 90's with thier taillights.

There is a circuit board inside the housings. It can short out and cause all sorts of problems.

Pull taillight housings out and disconnect the wiring.
Test all the wires for power for all the functions (turn/brake/park/back-up)
Also test for all the different combos: Like parking lights AND brake or brake AND turn (Just to be on the safe side)

If you get power for all of these functions then your taillight housings are shorting out.

I had to replace a P/Side housing because the previous owner broke it. But the Mrs said the D/Side went black when I hit the the brakes.
Turns out the D/Side housing was junk.

I went on e-Bay and ordered up a PAIR for around $67 (shipping included)

I will let you know how it all turns out.

For now I have an old "standard" park/brake SOCKET duct taped to the housing and the wires are piggy-backed off the harness...mind you this is only a temporary "band-aid" fix.
