wj vs xj
looking for some imput and discussion from owners of both. what are the pro's and con's of each?
i personally own a wj and i know most of there quirks, i might be considering an xj, but i want to know how they stack up in terms of reliability and engineering, because my wj is a freakin nightmare.
this is an apples to apples comparison, both 4.0 both 4wd

the XJ is a lot lighter, so the 4.0 feels like it's a lot more powerful than if it were in a WJ.
That's the main advantage in my mind, it's lighter, meaning it's faster, more fuel efficient, less prone to roll over, more stable offroad, lots of things...

Yep the XJ is the clear choice for off road use, but as a owner of both I'd have to say that the WJ is a much better DD jeep for its comfort! I have the the 4.7L in my WJ so there isn't really any lack of power there!

I own both and yes the WJ is a better DD. I dont see a real differance in power. As far as dependability both are great. I have had my XJ longer and it seems to become the loner ride when a family member needs it. It has 147k on the ticker, the WJ is at 82k

I also own both! I use the XJ for hard off road, the main reason for that is the WJ is too clean and has every option you can think of including a power moon roof. I really do not want to take a chance tweaking the body and getting leaks or putting all the electronics out of whack!
