Default WJ Hub fixing bolts

What type of socket or wrench do I need to work on the 12pt bolts which hold the hub to the knuckle ?

Get a set of the universals. They work well, otherwise you need a 12 point socket, I believe it's a 15mm.

Universal sockets are the type that swivel in the center like a universal joint on a driveshaft. Not MY choice your application, however. I used a 12 pt box end wrench and a hammer. It worked for me. If you've got room, you can use a "cheater pipe" over the end of the wrench. On my 97 ZJ, we had to apply some heat as well. On older jeeps the hubs can rust into the mounting hole and require brute force to get them off.

I'm changing mine Thursday. I'll let you know how it went.

Universal sockets fit a variety of applications. They sell them at harbor freight and sears.

Yeah, they are the nuts for getting those upper bellhousing bolts but they are fragile. You don't want to be putting a lot of torque on them. I've broken 2 in my lifetime. The socket shell is thin on most of them.

These are what I was talking about. They fit 6, 12, star, rounded, hex, and another application. You buy a set like these you'll never go back to the standard ones....I love mine, and bought if when I swapped my head, cause I didn't have a set of 12 points to put on the head bolts or the exhaust/intake mounts for the exhaust and intake manifolds.

I just used your link and I didn't see ANY universal swivel sockets in that set.

Not universal swivels. The socket set is what is universal. I think you might not quite understand what I was meaning. The socket set will work on those bolts you are needing to remove.

I was wondering because I just changed both front hubs on my '00 WJ and I just used a 12 pt box end wrench and cheater pipe.
