Where is the #1 transmission solenoid???
Hey Guys,
First off im new here so hopefully i can do this and not get bashed for anything out of context.
Im new to jeeps, i have always been a tuner guy and have no issues tearing into a honda with decent knowledge of them, but with a wife and 2 kids the tuners are out and im a confused jeep owner
Anyways my solenoid A for the transmission is acting up and i would rather just go ahead and replace it as ill be driving it from NC to FL for vacation in about 20 days. My question is, how do i determine which solenoid is (A) once i have the pan off?????
Any help will be greatly appreciated, Thanks

Pretty sure you have the 545RFE. There are fault codes that will identify specific solenoids for diagnostic purposes but the solenoids are in a pack or simply one unit mounted to the valve body.
I hooked it up to a snap on reader, and got the p0700 code, i know thats just a generic code saying DTC present, so when i checked the TCM i got the p0750 code.
Think changing the solenoid would fix this???

So we were out driving today at about 35-40mph when the check engine light came on and it went into limbo mode again randomly. So then once we came to a stop i put in first but it didnt drop down to first. I stopped turned it off and started it back up and it was fine .......all gears working. Then about 20 min later back in limbo mode. I am just wondering what would be the first thing to do as in replacing parts????? Or what could be the issue besides the solenoid pack???

Might be different terminology but thats the low/rev solenoid. A simple DTC/Code doesnt usually condemn a part but some of them do. It could be a wiring problem or TCM problem but most likely its the solenoid. First you might check the connector going into the side of the trans and make sure its not loose or has/had water or mud in it. That solenoid pack was a little expensive last time I checked so shop around if you are looking for one.
Yea i checked at the dealership and they said it was $330 for the part. I checked all the local auto part stores and none of them seem to be able to get it. I will check the harness and plugs and make sure they are not dirty. Thanks for the responses.

I dont know where you are located but there has to be at least a couple trans parts suppliers somewhat locally. These would be the stores that supply parts to the trans shops in the area. You can even try calling a trans shop in your area too. If you had a few days for shipping you might try finding one on on the internet with a google search or something too.
