I know this may be a stupid question but right now I'm running 30's on the Stock Canyons rims and from what I understand they're around 5" of backspace. I was looking to switch it up to the cragar soft 8s which are 4" of backspacing. Would this work? And does the loss of around an inch make the wheel move closer or farther out? Sorry for the silly questions just cannot seem to comprehend it.

 

yes. the lower the backspace number, the further the wheel will stick out.

 

Here is my ZJ with 3.75" back spacing. Looks just about perfect to me.

Yes, Busted spent a lot of time on that ZJ and he doesn't just drive it. He thrashes it off road as well!
