ran into a guy at walmart the other day . we got to bsing blablabla . had a pretty nice grand cherokee it was a 99 v8 . 4 inch lift or so and 33s. anyways he mentioned that it had a a sunroof leak and sometimes wont start. i am assuiming water ran down the a pillar and is messing with computer.anyways he was asking 3000 for it which if it had no problems i felt would have been fair. opinions .. and info please

 

The computer on my 2000 wj is on the right side of the firewall under the hood and I assume its in the same place on a 1999 so a sunroof leak wouldnt affect it. The "sometimes wont start" could be a number of things. Do a search of "wont start" and you will see what I mean. You didnt mention the odometer mileage which is important when determining how much it is worth. Did you look under it for signs of rot and for fluid leakage? You do not say where you live so a wj from Arizona is gonna have a whole lot less rot than one from NY. $3000 is a fair price if there are not alot of issues. What you saw was a lifted wj with 33s with a minor "dont always start " problem. My opinion is that you are interested in this jeep. If you got his phone number, call the guy and take an afternoon to go look at it at his place. Test drive it. Have a Jeep friend go with you and climb all over that thing looking for problems. It could turn out to be a good deal or the start of a money pit nightmare.

 

i gave $5,000 for mine its a 4.7 auto limited Ironrock offriad 6inch long arm kit. Jeep has 100,000 and has NEVER been off road. The transfer case has been changed from AWD to shift in and out 4wd from a 3/4 ton truck. i have pic of it on here its under 01 Wj.

 

i know my way around a regular xj just never messed around with wj. thanks for the info and that white jeep is slicker than socks on a rooster.thats pretty slick.
