Default What year?

I need a little help on this one...

My GF's kid has this Jeep/Yard Art sitting at my house and I do not have a key for it. For Christmas, I would like to get him some parts so it can be moved but I do not know what year it is. I don't want to ask him if I can avoid it because it would clue him in about what he is getting...

Is there a way to tell the year from the VIN?

Can anyone tell me the year just off the photo?

What i'm trying to get is a fuel pump, fuel filter and pass. side front axle/CV assembly... Is there a specific range of years that will work on this rig?

Thanks in advance for any input/guidance!

You know it's a ZJ Limited, but can't tell the year by the pic. The year can be told by the 10th number of the VIN.
P= '93
R= '94
S= '95
T= '96
V= '97
W= '98
Hope that's helpful.

Oh, and the original engine can be found by the 8th digit of the VIN.
S= 4.0L I6
Y= 5.2L V8
Z= 5.9L V8 ('98 only).

Glad to be of help. Get the engine info too. They'll ask for it regarding the front-end parts. Also look inside and see what the t-case bezel shows for gears, which t-case it has.

It's the 5.2 V-8 but I can't see inside for what the bezel looks like...

Looking at the price of the fuel pump alone, the kid might be getting socks instead!

They're high but it's the complete assy. on most later year. Pump, strainer, float assy., and anti-drainback valve on top. (I believe).

As far as what tcase it has, its the NP249. All V8 ZJs came with this tcase. Others can be swapped in.

Have you looked at rockauto.com? Great prices for quality parts. It should be the whole assembly.

look at advance auto parts website for fuel pumps. you could just get him a rebuild kit for it instead of the whole thing. its a little bit cheaper and the only thing that really goes bad on them is the motor.
