Default What kind of mileage is everyone else getting?

I have a 1997 JGC TSi. 5.2-liter V8, automatic, full-time 4WD.

I'm getting perhaps 12 mpg. During a cold snap in the winter, I got 10mpg.

This doesn't seem right to me. Can I expect anything better than this? If this is indeed low, what could be causing it?

During the winter here I get about 15 mpg but now that they switched back to summer blend I am getting no less than 19 mpg with my 5.2 going 70mph (unless I am in the throttle all the time). Best to date since tune up was 23 mpg.

If you have not done a complete tune up I would start there. New plugs, wires, cap and rotor, and coil. Also get a new fuel filter. I run this kit on my 5.2 and will soon be getting it for my 4.0 XJ.

Depending on circumstances I can get anywhere from 14-20 MPG. I got 14 MPG going up to Oregon with a trailer loaded with a quad and the Cherokee loaded with "stuff", probably about as much of a load as I feel comfortable towing this was going from the Sac. valley to over 5200 ft elevation over Shasta/Dunsimur. Coming back averaging ABOUT 65 MPG I got 18-19 MPG however I was pressing it at 75 MPH the last hour or so. At 60-65 I can get 18-20 MPG but a lot of things factor into that, terrain, wind, tire inflation etc. Cruise control helps. City driving? Good luck with that 10-12 is the best I can get.
