I went to this dealership with my mom today and we test drove this 5.9 limited. Engine was completetly silent almost not so much of a tick or wiggle or anything. Transmission shifted smoothly up and down, vehicle was silent inside when driving around 75mph. Turns went smooth basicly the car didnt make any noises. Carfax was clean, and repairs the dealerships did to the vehicle was a new winshield, fixed some kind of noise on the axels, CV something was replaced it didnt say boots it just mentions axels. Engine mounts were repaired.

Only thing bad i saw about the car was the transmission pan underneeth had alot of fluid leaking all over a few hanging fluid drops on the pan and apon further inspection the bolts had fluid on em too.. I suspect a bad gasket..

We got an offer of $5k trade in for my mom's 04 mitsubishi endeavour which sucks in the winter and has had nothing bee problems since day 1.. Most recent is the drive shaft is bad and needs replaced.. $5k trade is kellyblue books price.. Originall they said $3 and we just laughed. The Jeep we got them down to $4500.. we wanted $4k. My mom owes $1700 on the mitsu so basicly after its all done we would have to pay $1300 plus registration and taxes and stuff so close to $2k out of pocket after trading a 04 car for a 98 lol.

What do you guys think ? I wont be using the 5.9 for towing at least not right now, and i think 5.9 might be too much power for me currently. However it would be nice to have and my mom liked the car alot too. Even tho it was older the mileage was only 110k miles and it was fancier inside then the mitsu. My mom wanted to sell her mitsu for $3500 on craigslist cause the shaft costs $800 to fix, and the rear bumper needs replaced also cause her boyfriend got ina fender bender and thats $720 also. I told her no way its worth $9900 at a dealership and $7500 for private party value so at least $5k because repairs will cost $1400 for the other person. The dealership today had the manager come talk to us and he despretly wanted to the Mitsu i could tell because he was really pushy and kept giving us more for the mitsu and lowerd their price of the Jeep by $2k.

However im also thinking of we sell it for say $5k on craigslist, pay the car off for $1700 we'd have like $3200 left over, and ive seen some mechanicaly sound 4.0's for $2400, altho most ive checked out are junk and needed major repairs. If i get a good Jeep for $2400 we'd have cash left over, but then it would also be only a 4.0

that is a super nice 5.9 grand cherokee and well worth every penny i have the exact same one as that with less then 100,000 and i well never get rid of it and i picked up mine off my sister for 3k lol best deal ever
