what do these engine number mean?

Engine: 2000 4.0
what do these engine number mean?
I have a 2004 GC,LE with the 4.0 six. The engine number that is stamped on right side of engine is 009mx27 but there are 8 letters right below this that are laser etched...they are CCCCCC and I cannot make out the last two.
