It's forward of the oil filter on a freeze plug? I do not see a plug hanging off any where.





It was filled with clack Rtv<br/>Or some crap

Engine booger?
Perhaps someone tried to seal a leaking freeze plug. Not sure what else it could be

Looks like the remains of a block heater to keep it from freezing in really cold temps.

That makes two things I have learned today from your posts. First was aftermarket diff-covers and the reason why plug is higher (increased pinion angle).

Engine block heater. Well that would explain why I wouldn't know what is was in Arizona!
