Just thought I would add what I found on my passenger side water leak in my 96 ZJ. My leaks were only during rain events. Took windshield sealant to any areas around windshield and door gaskets that looked like they needed it. That didn't work. Come across an idea at another post (don't remember where) that I thought I would look into. In the wheelwell, the body has a plastic shield to prevent water and trash being thrown up into the body. I pulled away the part of the shield nearest the door, and low and behold, it was filled with pineneedles, small twigs, and leaves. It was completely full of crap. Cleaned everything out, refastened shield and have not had a leak yet. Hope this helps you or someone else having the water problem.

My '98 already has the splash shields removed. I've sealed the antenna grommet and any other opening in that area I can find with silicon RTV. I cut a hole in the cowl area above the fresh air intake and sealed around the intake lip with RTV as well. Then tacked the cutout back in place and sealed it. Sealed any opening in the firewall from the engine side into that area as well. Sealed around the blower motor from the engine side as others have suggested. Can't think of anywhere else to seal. It still leaks when it rains. Only thing left that I can think of is the windshield which will be replaced this week. Hopefully that will take care of it but if not then I am completely stumped and will have to remove the dash I guess. On the bright side I got the interior floor pans cleaned up and covered with bed liner while I've been trying to track down the actual leak.

Default 2004 grand cherokee passenger side water leak

have a 2004 grand cherokee and have had a leak in the passenger side foot well for more than a year. It gets soaked every time it rains. Have been following this forum and nothing worked. My windshield recently cracked and i had it replaced. the installer asked if i had experienced any leaks because i was missing adhesive on a large section of the windshield on the passenger side and i told him i did. He said this should fix it and IT HAS. We have had some major rain and no leaks since the windshield has be replaced. Don't know how anyone can find this out without removing their windshield but it has fixed my problem. The windshield that was replaced was original to car, not a replacement, so the missing adhesive was a factory problem.

Default Leak in pass side post

2007 Grand Cherokee. Leak occurs after hard rain when I corner or brake. Water comes through top opening in windshield post, see photo (just above the mailbox in the background). I saw a comment elsewhere that there may be a drain line that runs down the windshield post that clogs up. Any ideas?

Just browsing through the forum and stumbled upon this. I bought my 02 GC in 2010 and had this problem the day I bought it. Would get really bad when driving on highway with AC running. There is a pad on the inside of that valve that is supposed to create a seal but apparently they all wear out and fail. My fix for this was to just put aluminum foil tape around the base of that drain. It's been going on 5 years and I never had another problem with it. Here is a pic I just took:

I'd check the roof rack mounting channels to see of water is accumulating in them. IDK how they are are mounted, but there may be loose bolts allowing water to enter the headliner channel and running down the windshield post. Just an idea.

Reviving a long dead post .
Well I got my 97 GC Laredo home and pulled the passenger carpet up. I knew it was wet when I first inspected it but with doing some research here and other places felt confident I could deal with it (since it appears its going to happen sooner or later). Drilling through the box to run a rod through the drain line showed all clear - no obstructions. So I plugged that and waited to see what happened. The leak is coming from between the condensate box and the firewall. Should have checked that first . I got some marine through hole caulking and have sealed that area. I'll check it tomorrow afternoon.
But this is my question and if it's been covered before I apologize but I didn't see an answer for it. Why would the leak occur at the fire wall.....I know it was factory sealed because I removed all the old deteriorated seal before I caulked it. Does it run back down the horizontal drain stub, or does water build up in the box before it eventually drains out?
Taking the seats out and carpet in this NC heat is near stroke weather.

Please share what you ended up doing/finding out. I'm having the exact same thing happen on my 98 XJ. It's coming from underneath the passenger side glove compartment. I can see where the water is coming from (fresh air box?) and feel that the foam seal is soaked, but I have no idea how water is getting in there nor how to get fix the problem. HELP?

a 2000 with the same problem. It's not the A/C drain tubes for the sun roof. Only happens when it rains hard, not the car wash. Mine drips down from on top center of the heater box, and water runs down the front of it. I removed the glove box, but the heater box is taller than that so I can't see above it. I can't imagine it's the windshield, but I can't tell without removing it . Its to expensive to do that. The only thing that works is the drought here in California. No rain. No problem.

I have the same problem, and really need to fix it. After reading on many forums I see that it's a common issue, and most people say you need to remove the dashboard , but I haven't found anything about what comes next after that. Unfortunately for me I'm in Oregon, and it is gonna rain for the next 8 months.

Default Jeep leaking - problem found

I have a 2016 Cherokee. Last week, after a heavy rain, I found the front passenger carpet wet and standing water in back passenger floor board while it was parked on an incline. Dipped out what I could and shop vac'ed out a total of about a gallon of water. Nothing else was wet - not the seats, doors, or driver side of the car. Windows hadn't been open nor the sunroof. Took it to the dealer and they said it was probably the AC drain - until they saw how wet the carpet was.

There is a technical service bulletin describing this problem. They removed all the carpet on that side as well as the front wheel and wheel well liner. There was a body seam that wasn't properly welded. Apparently, since there's as TSB, this is a known problem. Took them several days to dry it out and get all seams resealed with an epoxy. It rained the day before they gave it back to me and they water-tested it and so far, all is dry. Obviously covered under warranty.

Here we go again. I thought I found my leak. You can read in my earlier post that rain was dripping off the heater box onto the floor. I saw where somebody found the grommet missing where the antenna wire goes through the body and into the cab, under the dash. I sealed that up and experienced no more water dripping off the heater box. We have had several days of hard rain and I pulled back the carpet and it was flooded. I do have a sunroof and had verified the drain tubes were solid, but I never checked the drain holes. I found yesterday that the passenger side drain hole was clogged. I unclogged it, but I don't know if that has anything to do with water on the floor.

BlueSeasons- I know you have a different year Jeep, but I had that problem about a week ago. Dealer service dept. found an open body seam in passenger side front wheel well. Might be what you're experiencing too. It's not something that you would see unless you deconstruct the interior and remove the outer wheel well lining. We've also had this problem with our '98 and '99 Cherokees. Not sure that was the issue with them since we don't have them anymore, but it's at least a new place to look for the problem.

The TSB they referenced on mine was 23-015-16A

Mine leaks when it is not moving. Was water being splashed into this seem when you were driving?
