Somehow I'm getting engine compartment heat from under my dash. For 3 years I thought it was leaking from the heater when it was off, but no, my mechanic checked everything in the heater while it was apart and it isn't leaking heat. My son put his hand over the heat duct while I was driving and he said nothing was coming out of it. It seems to be just on the driver's side. I checked up by the brake booster and can feel nothing, likewise around the wire harnesses where they come thru the firewall. The floor is not warm even though the converters are just under there, well, only slightly.
When you start driving with a cold engine you don't notice it. It's only after the engine gets up to temp. I'm going to stick a bright light under the dash at night and see if I can see anything by the firewall. My A/C doesn't work so I can't have 90* heat coming from under the dash!
Any ideas where it could be coming from? The heater was just resealed when he put it back in. Please! I'm sweating my gonads off!

I noticed the same thing about my 2000 WJ. I have uneven airflow from vents. If AC is off and I run fan on high, it seems to blow hot air rather than ambient temperature air. I was suspecting the blend door.
