Default Trouble shooting no oil pressure

I searched past post and found little.

I have a 95 GC with a 5.2L It has been sitting a few weeks and I just changed the rear rotors and pads when I noticed I have no oil pressure.

Just wanted some suggestions for troubleshooting before I drop the oil pan and check the oil pump.

Check the plug on the sending unit which is located on the top rear of the engine next to the distributor.

Okay, I cant really see it but I feel it. I unplugged the switch and I get a reading of 80 on my gauge. plug it back in and it drops to zero.

So this is telling me???

replace the sensor, should be under 20 if u do it your self, it is still reading zero, then you probably need a pump.

Yup, I guess if the auto part store rents the special tool, I might give it a go, just a little leery of tackling a job I can't even see. They couldn't of picked a worse spot to put this in.

Read the first post, quoted above, and it stated it has the 5.2L V8.

In a similar situation but with a 95 4.0 -- Reads 80 all the time, does the special tool really need to be used?

No need for a special tool. Use the appropriate sized socket.

It's tough to work back there but swapping the sensor wasnt too difficult.
