transmission fluid question
So Im curious, i plan on changing the transmission filter and transmission pan gasket..
But i know atf +4 is made for jeep and Chrysler products but the stick says dextron 2 (and dextron 3 supersedes dextron 2) and i just so happen to have a gallon of that chilling in the shop....my question is just to be sure would that be ok to run in the jeep.

Is it an auto or manual?
If its auto you should have the AW4 and it uses dextron 3, Chrysler did do a study saying that dextron 4 was safe to use. People have said they switched to the dextron 4 and it caused slipping and other bad things up to complete failure, not saying its all true and there is no hard fact that the dextron 4 was the cause. People also say Chrysler deemed dex 4 safe because they no longer have to warrantee the AW4, again no hard facts that I know of.
If its manual use gear oil don't know what weight sorry.
Edit: oh snaps didn't realize it was grand Cherokee tech. My bad all this info probably doesn't apply to you. Sorry

Get yourself a reusable pan gasket from the dealer if you don't already have one. It is way better than the cheap rubber or cork POS the filter kit comes with.

If my memory serves me correct, the reason for the two pan gaskets is that the pan changed shape. Only one should match the shape of your pan. Though I do agree with Bustedback go to the stealership and buy a gasket from them.
