i would like to switch my 249 transfer case for a 242 case but dont no how much work it is can someone tell me if its to much work it a 95 gc the more i know the better ill feel

its fairly easy with the right procedures and complete tools but its a long procedure, my transfer case electrical switch took me almost two days but that includes some reverse engrng and trial and error.

4.0L or 5.2 V8?

if it's the 4 litre, you should be able to get away with just a simple swap, but if it's the v8, you'll have to remove the input shaft from the 249 and swap it into the 242.

this is if i remember correctly. i had to do some research as i just sold a 242 from a gc to a guy wanting to do this swap. he has a 5.2

i just want to add, a lot encounters problems with their tccm, i suggest you to do an extensive research before doing the switch.
