Transfer case and axles
I have a 96 Grand Cherokee with a 318 and a 249 transfer case. Is a 242j a direct swap without any modifications?
Also I'm wanting to put lockers in my axles. I have a dana 30 in the front and a Dana 44 in the rear. Are there different models(spline counts, etc.) of those in the 96 Grand? Any advice on what lockers to get would be helpful too. Thanks!

Here's a good write up about the t-case swap. http://cherokeekid5.tripod.com/t_case.htm
Sorry but I can't answer about the lockers though.

Member biggoofy told me to check out this link. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f13/t...-np242-685644/ Check this right up also. It will tell you what years to look for that are a direct bolt in. I got my 242 from a 97GC with a 4.0. I have a 97 with a 5.2. I did my swap last night.
