So i just got this 02 wj for the wife, and it is acting up already
about a week ago the CEL came on and the trans was acting weird so i scanned it and it was showing a code for the trans fluid pressure solenoid, we replaced that and everything was fine till yesterday it started doing the same thing again and the CEL is back on

the symptoms are weird cause it doesn't happen all the time what is doing is when i hit the gas it will go until it wants to shift but it wont and the RPMs will go way up with out the truck moving, the other thing its doing is from a stop it will pick up really slow doesn't matter how hard you press the gas it will take a bit to get rolling, i have no knowledge of transmissions so any ideas here will help out
i got a guy at work that is going to drive it later he is the trans guy but we work on FORD's here so he asked me to check out if this is a common problem or not

help i need to get my wife rollin again so i can get my XJ back

Oh yea its got the 4.0 and im not sure of the trans is there a AW5 something like that

its a 42re... there problamatic... i had one for sale but gave it away with the 2000 WJ i just sold... lol... sounds to me like maybe its slipping when heated up... miles? this would explain it "working" after the new part install but when it got warmed up it slipped causeing the code to come back...

thanks for the clarification on the trans, its got 96k on it i didn't get a chance to get it scanned again today so i hope to get it done tomorrow, ill have to keep an eye on the temp

Our '04 has had to have the PCM "reflashed" for shifting issues a couple of times since we bought it new. There is a TSB on this. >-> http://www.wjjeeps.com/tsb.htm#TRANSMISSION
Look at the bottom of the list. Hope this helpful.

I will check that out but i cant open the tsb at work for some reason so I need to smack this CP around and look at it
