Hi guys,
I have the factory installed trailer package on my 1999 grand cherokee.
The left and right turn signals work.., but no brake lights.
any ideas ?

Have you double checked your fuses? That would be my first step. Will figure out which ones and where when I get home tonight if nobody beats me to it.

 

are you talking about not working on the Cherokee or trailer?

 

i checked all fuses and wiring.

i am talking about the stop light at the 7 pin trailer connector on the jeep.

Since the turn signals work on the trailer that would indicate the plug and its harness on the GC are ok since the turn signals and brake lights use the same pins.
It would also indicate the bulbs and harness on the trailer are ok since the brake and turn signals use the same element of the dual element bulbs.
That leaves only one thing that I can think of and that's the towing brake light relay or it's associated wiring. If I'm remembering right there are 3 relays, one for each turn signal and one for brakes. I can't swear to it but I think the relays are located behind the driver's side rear panel in the cargo area.
