Trailer hitch lock
Not specific to jeeps, but i can't be the only one to run into this. I bought a used jeep with a tow package. Currently i have a ball that is locked into the receiver, I would like to take this out and use a bike rack or tray in the receiver, however it has a lock on the pin, and I dont have key. I have a cutting wheel but it has been suggested i might to torch it off. Not the exact item it looks kinda like this:
So should i skip even trying to cut this and bribe my welder friend or am i overestimating this lock?

If you had a sturdy bar (tire tool etc), maybe even a long pry bar you could probably pry/snap the lock off. Thats the first method I try before cutting, sometimes you can smack the bar with a BFH a couple times too. Next method is using a cut-off wheel, which has never failed me.

I had to cut one off my truck after losing the keys. Took longer to get my grinder out and get a cutoff wheel on it than it took to cut it off.
