Please don't beat up the new guy...I have looked the internet for several days with no definitive answers. I just bought a 2010 Laredo for my wife with less than 19,000 miles to replace her 09 Limited that currently has 248,000 miles!!! My problem...I didn't know there was a difference in the TPMS's. Please understand...my wife's health is very bad and because of that, she worries over things that perhaps a younger and healthy woman may not. Being able to see the individual tire pressure of each tire and know when one is going down...is very important to her. So please don't blow me off or tell me there is no fix!
My questions...what must I do to convert the Laredo to the Premium TPMS, using the parts from our Limited? I have seen that the sensors are the same. The transponders and wiring will need to change. I assume the WCM and keys must change...but not sure. Is the WCM tied to or need reprogramming to ECM or BCM...does GC even have a BCM??? Will I need to change the cluster...I know all clusters have the capability to monitor all functions...but will the Laredo show this option or is it "turned off" because it was not an original option?
This said...what about changing the other Limited options such as, auto dimming outside mirrors, auto dimming headlights, rain sensing wipers, memory seats, etc. Any of these possible???
I am a gear head. Harnesses are no problem...but knowing what turns each item on and off and the warning in Service Manual about not changing clusters...these things baffle me. GM, is another thing...clusters can be swapped w/o issues and like Jeep, the mileage is stored in cluster, so I know I will have to have that corrected.
Anyone that can offer serious help or know who I might contact for info...I would be mighty grateful!!!
