Any one have any info/experience with towing with a 98ZJ 5.2L, I have a 3500/lbs camping trailer, and am looking looking to purchase a 98zj with 62,000 miles, and want to make sure it will pull with no problems especially thourgh the mountains

 

I believe the factory tow rating was 7500lbs. My neighbor used to have a bravada that he towed a big camper with. He didn't like it so he bought a truck.

The '97 ZJ I had was equipped w/the 5.2 and heavy duty cooling system and tow package w/aux. trans cooler from the factory. It was rated to tow 5,000 lbs. I used it to tow many cars & a couple of vans on a tow dolly, an 18 ft. boat a few times, a loaded 8x12 foot trailer (many times), all on numerous trips between Mich and Tenn with no problems.
Just remember that you can't use overdrive when towing.

 

Just be careful slowing down...we all know how great ZJ brakes are

 

Mines rated for 6750 with the factory tow package. I towed a 3500 lbs trailer 2000 miles with no problems.
