Thoughts on AZ, Echlin CKPS
Ok, sadly I put in a Duralast (yes, I now know) crank sensor about 4 months back after experiencing crank and no start condition, would start or not start randomly. Since then replaced distributor and cam sensor also as well as FP and reg/filter. Pressure is now fine and holds well.
Started acting up again, crank, no start..actually threw a code 54 ...from the charts is looked like cam sensor again so I threw another one in, suspecting it was actually the Duralast crank sensor that was the problem. Acted up again, still.
So, regretting my duralast sins, I now am ordering a genuine mopar sensor, or wait to tomorrow and see what the stealership wants for one, if they even have one.
Question, Echlin used to be a trusted name, are they as bad as the rest now? I heard they were bought by Standard and all the aftermarket is pretty much the same.

To put it bluntly, aftermarket suppliers don't put the quality of construction into their components that Mopar does, especially where electronic sensors are concerned. Mopar parts work the first time, every time. If they don't, there's something else wrong.
Personally, I wouldn't trust ANYTHING from Auto Zone.

I ended up heading to the stealership this morning and forking over $141. for a sealed Mopar crank sensor brand new. Had it in by noon. Seems to have solved it.
I did notice that the magnet in the factory sensor that has 190000 on it, was clearly much stronger than the Dontalast that I took out today with about 400 on it. That puppy goes back for a refund. Noticed it backfired a little when I started it today before the swap too, another symptom of funky weak signals.

You have to remember that most of these sensors work on 5 volts so good clean connections are IMPORTANT!
For 02 sensors I like Bosch because they come with the harness connectors on them. No funky wire splicing.
