Thinking of getting a WJ?
So a buddy is buying my XJ and i plan on getting a WJ, what are some of the things i should keep in mind when looking?
I know the 4.0 is amazing, but know very little about the 4.7?
Also which transfer case is the best? i've seen only two that had the Quadra-Trac II which i beleive is the AWD?
I like good sound so how in the stock infinity system?
Any problems they may have that i should stay away from?
Thanks!

I'd look for one with Selec-Trac (the NV 242 t-case). Allows 2 or 4WD, low range, shift-on-the-fly, full or part time 4WD.
On a mile mileage 4.7 sohc, there is an issue with the Very long timing chain. The cam in each head is chain driven. Wears better than a belt, but is difficult to replace.
There was a TSB 05-003-02B Front Brake Pulsation Bulletin issued on the front brakes.
Front brakes had a lot of problems with rotor warpage- there are/were recalls. Dealer replaced rotor's and caliper's because of problem.
Some Recalls were:
Recall C12 on steering box;
Recall F17 on heated seats- could cause fire;
Recall B06 for 4.0-manifold debris accumulation around # 3 cylinder- could cause fire;
Recall No.D13 for 4.0 cran pos. sensor- cracked insulation may cause stalling;
Infinity Gold system sounds great for stock. Available 10 disc cd in rear.

well if you want less problems, then stay away from as many options as you can. My 04 has the memory seat. well a little plastic part broke so it will not go forward or back, only 700 bucks to buy a whole new power seat base. Then there is the horror stories of the blend doors breaking, But then it don't really matter what vehicle you buy used, there are going to be some issues. Good luck

Oh and as far as the engine goes, personally I would not own one if it didn't have the 4.7 in it. It is one nice engine, good torque and durabilty. My first one had almost 300,000 km on it when I sold it and its still going.
