Ok guys just found your site and needs some help!! Ok I have a 98 cherrokee laredo 145k miles on it. It has a tapping or slight knocking sound coming from engine area. I have replaced the head and installed new lifters. Noise is still there, I have removed the belt and ran, noise is still there,checked all the injectors seem to be working properly. I keep reading some articles and maybe thinking engine slap, How I can check for sure??

 

well there are quite a few things it could be, poss little ends/big ends?as you have replaced the top end and its still there try listening for a central to low down noise
