Default T case swap

Both are excellent write ups. I started my swap this evening. Went to drop the front d/s and rounded off one of the bolts connecting the d/s to the t/c yoke.

How did it test out? Mine seems to be working as it should. Was wondering if u had to change your d/s. I had to change mine. I'm working with the same ie. 249 from v8 97 zj, and 242 from a 97 i6. Oddly my 249 was stamped with a production date of 98, so someone had to have replaced the 249 before...

Drove really nice. I had to change the rear drive line. It has a external slip yoke. I haven't tried any of the 4x4 settings yet,but it sure turns nice in parking lots.

Yeah I'm with you on the turning..I have daddy duty today, hopefully I will get to fish/test 4x4 later today. Have you switched out your front d/s yet? If so what year and model did you go with?

No on the front D/L. Not sure I need to but there's not alot of room for the yoke to move. I had to change out my front axle. So I have a Cherokee front D/L.

Gotcha. My original axle had the cv yoke, but the the one I found to replace it had the u-joint style. The drive line is from a cherokee not sure what year.

On my '97 ZJ I had the CV shaft (type 3) replaced with another ZJ shaft that had the u-joints w/the dust cap on the sliding yoke (type 1) below.
