Sunk jeep
Okay, So my brother has i think a 92 jeep grand cherokee and he got it stuck in mud pretty bad. It was like up to his bumper. It was night, so he had no one to pull him out. It didn't start at first, so we replaced the started and the alternator, and now it starts, and you can move it, but once it gets up to around 15 mph it stalls and dies out. We think it may be the transmission or something like that. Please help, we dont know much about this kind of thing.

ha well of course we got it out of the mud. Some guy had to tow it through the trails to get it back to at least a parking lot.

check the airbox and make sure you didnt clog the air filter with mud. also make sure that the belts and every moving parts are free of any mud.

Thank you, we checked the air box and it had a bunch of mud and water in it. Is it expensive to get a filter replaced? i will check the belts right now.

A new filter is pretty cheap just go pick one up from Auto Zone. If you're going to be mudding a lot you might want to look into getting a K&N filter, just rinse it off and ur good to go

Can't be a '92 ZJ, but that's irrelevant. Replacing an air filter? This is a 5 minute job you do yourself. Buy the repacement at Auto Zone or Walmart. But I doubt it has much to do with your problem. You might have fouled some sensors - it happened when I drowned my XJ. You'll have to locate them & make sure they are clean & dry. Start your troubleshooting small & cheap.
Did you guys leave the Jeep running while stuck?

i was not with him. It is my brothers, i have an xj, but yeah i wasn't with them. I imagine he tried to get it out and kept kickin it for a while, him being a rookie offroader, going offroading by himself, why he got stuck in the first place. The air filter isnt that dirty, but i beat it out and i sprayed all of the dirt caked in the air box out. My brother has the only key so we cant check to see how it is running now, it is just bothering us sitting in our driveway.

oh and he said it was a 92. Idk, maybe he said 94. I Think we might be parting this things out here soon, just not worth the trouble. only paid 1000 for it in the first place.

I would think it's not getting enough fuel or air at those RPM's causing it to stall out. Pull the tube off the TB and make sure it's dry and clean inside there. Start with your CPS sensor and any other sensor that was submerged and make sure they're all clean.
