Default a stupid question.

Hi, i have jacked the back of my car and placed two jackstands under the axel. I will shift breake shoes and then i need to turn the wheel around to adjust the shoes. Could i move the transfer shift to N without starting the engine and with the transmission in Park? Or do i need to start the engine and move transmission to N and then move the TC to N and would i then be able to turn the rear wheels around? I know, this is a stupid question

You should be able to take the trans out if gear with the key turned to 'on' without starting.
